Euthalia Marine is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Ferrari Hypersail for a technical partnership focused on innovation in the nautical sector.
Euthalia Marine, Euthalia’s division specializing in lightning and surge protection systems for the nautical world announces that it has entered into a technical partnership agreement with Ferrari Hypersail, the Maranello brand’s new and ambitious sporting challenge to create a flying, energy-self-sufficient ocean racing sailboat.
For over 70 years, Euthalia has been setting new standards in lightning protection. Unlike conventional lightning protection systems, which merely manage or divert the electrical discharge once it has occurred, the Euthalia system takes a preventive approach. The technology is designed to eliminate the formation of discharges within the protected area, effectively preventing lightning strikes. This ensures completely safe navigation and offers unparalleled defense against one of the most significant natural hazards to boats.
Euthalia’s technological innovation is being used in the new Ferrari Hypersail project, writing a new chapter in ocean racing sailboats. The Ferrari Hypersail prototype is designed to fly stably on three points of support. Its primary innovation is that one of the foils will be supported by the canting keel, and the other points of support will be a foil on the rudder and, in turn, the two side foils. The new ocean racing boat aims to become the world’s first 100-foot full-foil monohull.
The collaboration between the two companies is based on a solid sharing of values—such as the continuous pursuit of innovation, excellence, and reliability—and a common desire to overcome existing boundaries in the nautical sector by redefining the limits of what is possible.
“Seventy years ago, our founder had the brilliant intuition to rethink the way lightning was managed compared to the existing approach. Since then, much has changed. A new and safer way of looking at the phenomenon of lightning strikes has gradually established itself over time in various fields, in Italy and around the world. With Euthalia Marine, we have decided to bring our unique technology to the nautical world, aiming for zero lightning strikes and zero consumption, in an attempt to change the rules of the game in this field as well. We are delighted to be an integral part of the Ferrari Hypersail project and to be able to contribute our technology to the success of this challenge” said Luca Corradini, CEO of Euthalia.
The launch and subsequent testing of the Ferrari Hypersail prototype are scheduled for 2026.
“We are thrilled to begin this collaboration with Euthalia Marine, a company that excels in the field of lightning and surge protection. In a context where extreme weather events are becoming increasingly frequent, safety and reliability are essential elements for a pioneering project such as Ferrari Hypersail, which aims to redefine the boundaries of ocean sailing through cutting-edge technological solutions. The integration of Euthalia Marine systems is a strategic choice for us, allowing us to face even the most extreme conditions with complete peace of mind, ensuring the protection of the crew and on-board technologies. We are confident that this partnership will contribute significantly to the success of our challenge and to the establishment of new standards of innovation and safety in the nautical sector” said Marco G. Ribigini, Team Leader of Ferrari Hypersail.
